Murmurations

At dusk, twelve starlings in the sky, easily falling into a black V formation in motion. The one leading at the pointy tip sliding back, being replaced by another and so on, creating a silent dance of an unknowable intelligence, a shared leadership and a sacred geometry.

Three hundred or more starlings forming super-complex shapes, multidimensional forms swirling like a viscous fluid, oil in water. Each little bird becoming a dot, forgetting itself inside the black magnificent three-dimensional artwork on a light blue canvas. Double helices and icosahedrons, shifting shapes at will from one second to the next, like a single conscious organism moving, a large swift amoeba.

Wonder how they see what they do. How do they do it? Are they taught this process, or do they intuit it? Each cell sensing another. Each bundle of cells sensing the bundle next to it and dancing together in synchrony. An extraordinary phenomenon of creative quorum-sensing. A stunning synergy, which is the visual evidence of what is possible for us when we are together and free in a wholesome association with others.

Letting go of the belief that we’re unprotected; this mesmerizing sight is a reminder of the interconnectedness that binds all beings together. Starlings represent a transformation and adaptability that is possible for us all individually and collectively.

Multiple connections in a single space, a syntropy.

Knowing that the shining light within each of us is what illuminates the Earth.

Being in a creative collaboration with everything that pretends to be ‘the other’.

Living as a contributor, well aware of the enough-ness of our smallness.

This is my experience and that of the other members of CORe too:

In the place of pain, you are no one.

When you find others in that place of pain who are no one too,

You find in the place of pain, you are one.
